Most of us publishers making revenue with Adsense are very cautious with keeping within the terms of service with Adsense. Since there are publishers making from hundreds to thousands of dollars each month getting your account canceled can be devastating.

Before Google went people on Webmaster forums like Digital Point webmasters would try to not post anything about their monthly earnings for fear that their accounts might get terminated. As of lately since going public it seems like if you stay within the boundaries of making sure you don’t click your ads & make sure you don’t send fake traffic, Google seems to have lightened up on other rules.

The biggest & newest technique seems to be placing static images above the leader text ad, or putting images on the side of the rectangular ad box.

On our site Tokyo Gift Shop our online shop we tested this to see how much better the click through rate is. Our sales were pretty bad so we weren’t worried about loosing sales. That site has the best click through rate of any of our sites with Adsense with CTR in the double digits. Unfortunately though before our experiment we were listed in the DMOZ & after we put this up they removed our site from their listings.

So I must say that the more ads you have make sure you know that some directories may pull your listings…

This allows us Mac users to see the pagerank of sites instantly. To see the pagerank of a site just put the curser over the green bar & it will display the numerical pagerank in about 2 seconds.

It also has a translation feature which currently probably best works with latin based words. It does translate English to Japanese giving more than one possible translation for words. The problem is that if you want to see what a Japanese word is then you are fresh outta luck buddy. Also the default is set to not use the translator so you have to turn it on under the options menu in the toolbar. Then after that choose settings to set it to the language you want to translate…

I love the simplicity of the design with the Canada Real Estate Directory. Instead of using a perfect match for the color of active links the Google Adsense link title’s are actually a bit more of a bolder color. Making the adsense ads stand out a bit more than the normal link text.

Becoming a more common placement for directory inner pages the 3 line square is used to display a sort of featured links function at the top. The great thing about adsense for directories is that it can give you a simple solution of getting sponsored links. If they are sponsors found by yourself or from Google, either way revenue for your site is a good thing.

Great example of how to use Google Adsense

We have a client that inspired us to try to make a financial site. So we started Hedge Fund and Financial Directory located at www.hedgefundfinder.com. We wanted to make simple directory for financial institutions & investors who are interested in various hedge funds. Since it has just launched we are still adding data to the site.

phpBB plus main site http://www.phpbb2.de/ uses a great technique to blend content & Adsense.

Most would add Adsense to the top or bottom of the pages in a forum but the webmaster did something better than that. If you go to any post with replies like this one http://www.phpbb2.de/ftopic29186.html You’ll see the second post is not a post at all. There’s no user named Google it’s integrated Adsense. This way related Ads pop up & the users that are interested in that subject/product will off course be curious to see what the link is for.

Doing this the webmaster has added a bit more potential revenue to his forum.

I would like to point out that phpBB Plus is a really great modification to the phpBB forum software. As long as you keep your footer with a link for the credit in tact the webmaster offers lots of help on the site. if not the webmaster others also provide a lot of help for people stuck with various questions & technicall issues.

Great Job phpBB Plus…

Secure Enterprise Instant Messaging has a cool example of using the first generation Ad Links Text Units to blend with the site’s own navigation.

Instead of creating their own style of a navigation bar the site own used CSS to make their side nav look exactly the same as Ad Link’s own. This perhaps makes for a better CTR rate which makes more revenue for the site owner, google, & the other people selling Secure Instant Messaging Software & services.

I would like you users to nte that the site is entirely made with CSS & has no tables. I can’t get by without using tables yet but this small but informative site has a good simple layout, good use of Adsense & Ad Links, & is informative…

Remember it’s good to have a good layout but get some good content too.

Think Bling - ThinkBling.com was probably one of the first site’s that I’ve seen an individual create the makes confused on what’s the content & what’s Adsense.

The Think Bling site is a resource site for webmaster who want to make some extra dollars online. I’m just pulling this out of thin air but I don’t think he expected his Adsense ads to reflect Hip Hop jewelry.

The site’s second page is the clencher located at http://www.thinkbling.com/tools.php

You can not tell me that’s not a really good blend. It’s also perfectly fine with Google & I would imagine it has a good click through rate.

For all of you phpBB users Think Bling also has a good Adsense Revenue Sharing Mod for phpBB located at Adsense Revenue Sharing Mod. This mod let’s you share revenue from your forum with your forum users. I’m personally too damn scared & think that noobies & young people will tell their friends to click a few ads so I never used it.

But it is free & a good marketing tool.

Great Site Think Bling…

Is it right to blend adsense with your content?

Absolutely you just have to think of it like this if your viewers are taken to a page of an advertiser they may possibly want to do business with then you have earned that click through.

You can think of Adsense blending like product placement. You know when big companies pay to place things in TV & films hoping to expand their brand awareness. It’s almost the same thing.

There are just a few things to remember though.

1. Never ever click your own ads, not even to test or try things out.
2. Never email or write anyone to tell them to click a few ads.
3. Don’t put anything more than “Sponsored Links” or “Advertisements” around your Adsense ads.

Blending of ads is perfectly Ok it’s fraudulent clicks that are a problem. Have a site that you can earn some extra money from is not too hard. Most webmaster’s earn the money & don’t try to cheat the system..

Stay within the guidelines & you can make money with Google Adsense & Ad Links…

Thank you for viewing Ad Links this blog is a collection of great examples of sites that use Google Adsense & Google Ad Links.
While Adsense has been around for a few years this year Google’s Adsense program rolled out Ad Links. Currently Adsense has 3 types of Ad formats Text Ads, Image Ads, & Link Units (Initially refered to as Ad Links).

Many want to know what are good examples of sites using Google Adsense text ads & Ad Links. Since I myself try to develop sites that take advantage of the program I decided to create a blog showing good examples.
